I stayed at Wisteria for the months of February and March 2011 using the apartment as a base for property searching in Roussillon and northern Spain. The owner, Anne, was extremely helpful and supportive. The apartment was immaculate and perfect for my requirements – fast broadband, shower, UK tv, centrally located yet quiet, terraced garden for the warm days and toasty warm inside during the occasional cold day. The kitchen had everything I needed and the local markets and supermarket are close by. The apartment is located about 100 yards from the broad sandy beach which stretches for miles to the north and south. Local bars and restaurants are just a short distance by foot or bicycle (two are provided). Property in this part of France is expensive for good reason – Roussillon is beautiful, the climate perfect and Spain (Portbou via Collioure, Port Vendres, Banyuls sur Mer and Cerbere) just 35 minutes drive away on the coast road. Perpignan is 30 minutes by car to the north. There is much to see and do in this part of France and Anne is always available to advise and assist when asked to do so. I have no hesitation in recommending Wisteria for short or long stays and look forward to returning soon.
Wisteria argeles sur mer MAY 2010 A surprisingly spacious and extremely well equipped apartment with an owner for whom nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed our time at Argeles and, although it was a little cool on some days, we got a taste of Mediterrean living which will undoubtedly bring us back for more. The apartment is located approximately 2 minutes from the nearest area of beach and 10 minutes easy and pleasant walk away from Argeles Plage main area. When we visited the resort was pretty quiet but we are sure the private parking the owner provides is extremely useful as summer numbers increase! There are lots of restaurants and shops and a couple of supermarkets within easy reach - either by foot, bycycles (again thoughtfully provided by owner) or car. Our well behaved dog was made welcome and developed quite a friendshop with the owner's hound. In terms of the wider location, we really enjoyed the variety of terrain (from flat, sandy beaches to hills and impressive snow covered mountains) all within a mere 2 hours drive). I'm sure we will be back in the not too distant future. Jan and Mike Surrey ‘Wisteria’, apartment in Argeles-sur-mer (100910) We stayed in this spacious apartment for the whole of October, 2010 and were without a car through our own choice, travelling to and from France by rail. The apartment is excellent, comfortable and very well-equipped, exactly as described in the listing description with lots of surprising extras, such as internet access and freesat television channels, convenient for the beach, which is simply a few minutes walk away, and a range of local shops. Anne, the owner, is friendly, helpful and a great source of local knowledge and she did a lot to make out stay a really pleasant experience. Having 2 bikes was a real advantage and Argeles is probably the easiest of all areas to cycle in, with dedicated paths and flat terrain, and a very poisitive attitude towards cyclists. The Little Train is a novel, reliable and very effective way to see the local area, and its route includes the village, station and 2 large supermarkets. For travelling further afield, the euro bus, which has a flat fare of 1 euro for all single journeys, is excellent, and the Frogbus goes from Perpignan to Spain several times a day. The weather in October was generally very good, with maximum temperatures at about 28°c, certainly warm enough to swim in the sea, and to regularly eat outside on the very attractive patio. Our stay was very enjoyable and we are looking forward to returning in the future. Jen and John East Yorkshire |
